Shan is a senior data visualization engineer at Uber. She is the founding member of Uber's data visualization team and creator of kepler.gl. At Uber, Shan builds data tools and platforms to make business intelligence easy to access, creates exploratory data visualizations to facilitate data analysis and modeling. Shan is the lead engineer behind kepler.gl, an advanced geospatial visualization tool. kepler.gl is the Gold winner of Kantar Information is Beautiful Award and nominated for Breakthrough of the Year of the JavaScript Open Source Awards. 

Prior to joining Uber, Shan studied at MIT and received a master in design computation while conducting research at the MIT Senseable City Lab as a data visualization specialist.
